Winning the game

Victory in Unmatched comes down to one thing: defeat the opposing hero. Here is how damage, defeat and sidekicks fit together.

However wildly the heroes differ, every duel is won the same way: be the first to defeat your opponent's hero.

Reduce the enemy hero to zero

Each fighter tracks its health on a dial, starting from the value printed on the hero's character card . When a hero's health is reduced to zero, that hero is defeated and their controller loses the game immediately .

Defeating sidekicks

A hero may field one or more sidekicks, or none at all. Sidekicks are represented by tokens and have their own health; a sidekick with no health dial has 1 health. Defeating a sidekick does not win the game, but it removes a threat from the battlefield and a body to block lines.

Sidekicks matter, but they are never the win condition. Keep your eyes on the enemy hero — that is the only health total that ends the game.
